Reflections1

I grew up in the province but I never experience a life without electricity nor a day without mobile phone signal. I never even imagined that one of the many days while employed, will I come to meet this life changing experience.

This is Nagsaza Cove, in Zambales.  I joined a large group of the nicest people in the world for this almost 2 days of RnR.  We arrived at 3pm via bangka, deload all our bags, pitched tents, had merienda and lots of fun.  We finished the round at 430pm.  I joined a group to man the kitchen at 5pm, started cooking at 6pm, had dinner at almost 8pm and then fun fun fun for the rest of the night.

That particular day, I was transformed from simple to simpler.  I didn't get drunk though but I fell asleep on the sand.  It felt good because I was with everyone - having fun talks until dawn, singing our hearts out on every familiar songs from a cellphone, nose-bleeding ourselves because we were joined by 2 almost-foreign to out national language.  But it was all fun.  No worries for work the next day.

As soon as morning broke, I began to notice the unnoticeable - how refreshing the morning sun, how calming the sound of the waves, how uplifting the chirping of the birds.  It felt like life took a different course where nature meets all the best expectations.  With this I realized how much I miss having control of my own time - where I can point out things I wanted to do for my weekends and my weekday nights.  I also realized that it is important to keep hours for myself, where I can indulge into all funny cravings.  Then I also realized how much material things have come into suspending everything that I hoped for, how money become the center of everything there is and everything to be done.

Well, I just hope this kind of distraction will not take to much toll on my dreams of re-experiencing the life I really wanted to live.
